Halloween Treat Toppers

Halloween is almost here.  And boy are my kiddos excited.  We have more parades and parties to go to than I am ready for but I know they will have a blast.  I wanted to put together little treat bags for their teachers and their therapists and for my Free Friday Night Fun Crop ladies.  Here is what I came up with.

I haven't made rosettes in a while but was inspired by the rosette trees on the front of the CTMH's Holidays From the Heart Gift Guide.  Aren't they gorgeous?  If you are interested in creating them, give me a shout and I'll get you set up.

Some people are intimidated by rosettes.  I know I use to be, but let me show you how to make them.  For these treat toppers, I cut my paper in 1 1/2" x 12" strips.  I then scored at every 1/2 inch.

I then folded on the score lines alternating folding forward and backwards to make a fan/accordion fold.  Next, I glued the two ends together together with the printed side of the paper facing out.

Once the seam is dry enough to hold, while the paper is laying how it is in the right side of the photo above, I pushed the top point toward the middle and one another.  This will force the bottom point to spread and move out.  When the rosette is formed, I use most of my fingers from both hands to keep the rosette pinched and lift it and place it down onto a square piece of cardstock that I have put large glue dots on.  I press down until the rosette is secure.  Because I wanted to use it to hold a bag closed and also allow people to use it afterward as a jacket pin or on their desk, clipboard or chalkboard, I added some large glue dots on some clothes pins and attached it to the back of the cardstock.  Adding a magnet would have been a fun option too.

For the finishing touch, I added a little chipboard pieces that had Halloween characters or saying on them.

Then I filled my baggies full of goodies, twisted the tops and secured them with the clothes pin.  So see, not too crazy hard.

What kind of Halloween treats are you putting together?

Studio J Fun - CTMH's Digital Scrapbooking website

I love paper crafting.  I love feeling the paper, threading the thread through the button holes, and tying bows with pretty ribbon.  And while I really enjoy the tactile sensation, there are sometimes that digital scrapbooking makes more sense.  (For those of  you who prefer digital scrapbooking, I guess it always more sense. : )  )  And when I need to use the advantages of digital scrapbooking, I always go to CTMH's Studio J website.

I love that I don't have to buy tons of programs or files and download them to my computer.  With Studio J, you pay $ 6.95 for every two page layout, which winds up being tons cheaper than other options.  Secondly, I love being able to print two copies of the same page, or even three copies of a page depending on how many kids' albums the page goes into.  How great is that?  Create once, click print 3, and done.  Super Mom!  Thirdly,  another benefit of Studio J is that you can use paper patterns that are no longer for purchase in paper form or has been a Studio J exclusive pattern.  And this last reason is why I used Studio J to create the following pages.

This paper collection, called Class Act, is exclusive to Studio J.   It goes perfectly with these cute pictures of Owen practicing his numbers.

Here is another Studio J exclusive paper, Wishes and Fishes - Boy,  So sweet.  These pictures where taken through an isolette while the boys were in the NICU and the pictures need a ton of editing. Because Studio J has an awesome editing tool, I was able to edit my pictures and then download them right into the photo wells.

This paper pack, Later Sk8r, is so cool and perfect for my boys' pages.  I fell in love with it the first time I saw it.  I have been dying to use it and these pictures of my boys with their new swing set are a perfect match.  So I created the page and had two copies of it printed.  Woohoo.

Studio J is so easy to use and there are how to videos here on the Studio J website as well as a long FAQ section.  So give it a try today by clicking here and check out all the coolness that is Studio J.

If you have any questions, shoot me an email or give me a call.  I'm happy to help and walk you through the program.

Halloween Mini Album Using Cricut Artbooking

Back in September I showed you this 2 page 12 x 12 layout that I had created using the Cricut Artbooking cartridge.  As I mentioned before, you set your dial size one at 11" and everything cuts at the right dimensions to coordinate together to create 12 x 12 pages.

One of the other really great things that Artbooking allows you to do is create mini albums.  All you have to do is set your dial size to the size listed on the instructions and everything will cut the right size to create a mini album.  Here is a video CTMH put together showing a Halloween mini album.

No matter how you want to preserve your spooky memories this Halloween, Artbooking has got you covered.

Encouraging Cards Using Look to the Light Stamp Set

Sometimes when someone you know is going through a rough time it is hard to know what to say.  You want to let them know you care and that you are there for them.  Sometimes you want to offer them some hope that they may not feel in the midst of their situation.  Many draw strength and peace from various encouraging scriptures and the five scriptures used in the Look to the Light stamp set are some of my favorite.  Ones that I learned as a child and have turned to countless times throughout my life.

I love these scriptures so much that I decided to put together a Encouraging Card Workshop and offer it at various churches here locally.  So I set about creating.  Here are the cards I cam up with.  I am really pleased with them.

If you are interested in creating any of these cards or think that the women in your church might be interested in an evening of fellowship and crafty fun, just send me an email or give me a call, and we can set something up.

If you would be interested in purchasing any completed cards (envelopes included), please email me or give me a call to place your order.  They are a $1 a piece and can be purchased in any combination you desire.

Want to win a Free Crush book?

Jeanette Lyton, the founder of CTMH, is awesome and she has a really cool blog.  I always look forward to see what she posts.  One really great thing she does on a regular basis is giveaways.  Woohoo.  Everyone loves to win free stuff.  And for the month of October she is doing a way cool giveaway.  Here is Monica from Corporate Office to tell you all about it.

Click here to go to Jeanette's blog to enter to win.  And check out everyone's comments about how they'd use their Crush book.  I recently realized that while I do a lot of scrapbooking, it all revolves around my children.  I have never done so much as a page about me.  Most of the time, I'm not even in the picitures because I'm the one taking them.  I chronicle my children's favorite things to eat and do and major life events, but not my own. In August, right before I turned 39, I had this idea that the more I thought about, the more I loved it.  I got my own Crush book and decorated the front to say "Jenna at 39".

On my birthday (the 29th), I wrote down my responses to 10 questions about me in my Crush book.  Then on the 29th of every month since, I answer the same 10 questions.  I have also included what my goals for the next year are, what I am grateful for and what I am most proud of accomplishing.  I've put encouraging sayings in it and talk about things that happen in my life from my perspective.  It is where I celebrate all of who I am:  a daughter, a wife, a mom, a business owner, a crafter and a woman.  I have enjoyed the process a lot and even though I'm only a few months into the year, it already brings me pleasure to look back and remember my journey.

If you'd like to start you own and don't want to wait until the end of the month to see if you win, click here to order yours and have it sent directly to your house.  There are two different books to pick from and four different assortments to journal on and add details.

Happy Crafting!
